Xesús M. Méndez Padín (1965) Vilalonga (Pontevedra) SPAIN.

He initiates himself in the knowledge of stone in 1979, and at the same time he starts his apprenticeship in the world of painting guided by Rogelio Lorenzo.

In the early years he focuses on his pictorial activity almost exclusively, but an eager Manolo Paz teaches him to immerse himself in the forms and rhythms of stone.

This experience makes him start a journey in search of his identity as a stonemason and sculptor.

Xesus finds his references in classicism, but just as it is found in our days, that is to say, mutilated and patinated by the passage of time.

He rebuilds a human landscape that sleeps lulled in history and mythology.

Since 1988 he has combined his artistic production with teaching activities; he has taught stone carving and modelling in various training centers.

Between 1995 and 2006 he teaches at Poio Stonemasonry School.

In the last few years he dedicates himself to the occupational training of adults and to the intervention in interior spaces, collaborating with his friend, the sculptor Carlos Salas.

Bear in mind we are dealing with works of art, so they may be in an exhibition (actually, this is awesome!). Those artworks which are in an exhibition are usually displayed as “non-available”.
